The Mondopower/Ferplant group's stake in BIOGEN Chivasso was sold in 2016. From 2012 until the sale of the power plant FERPLANT was in charge of its management.
The plant was authorised and built with the support of Ferplant and is located within the former Lancia plant in Chivasso, now Consorzio PICHI.
A 17 MWe Wartsila 18V46 engine and a 1 MWe Turboden organic cycle turbine supply energy to the industrial site.
The plant continues to supply companies in the neighbouring industrial areas with both electrical and thermal energy (both for heating and industrial use) thanks to the integrated cogeneration system, allowing companies that are established or that wish to establish themselves considerable economic advantages for the supply of energy carriers. Emission control, monitored continuously, is ensured by a sophisticated emission abatement system based on urea SCR technology, so as to achieve values far lower than those required by law.
